Travel Tips?
So, I'm (40M-married) planning on visiting Thailand, solo (wife cannot get leave and child is in school), mid month this coming August. My itinerary takes me to Bangkok for 4 nights, where I hope to network with some old colleagues to try and get a job there, and then head to Phuket for 3 nights, before returning to Bengaluru.
Now, I'm not one of the super adventurous types, neither am I going to be going there to get "happy endings", but I want to have an "interesting enough" time taking in the local scenes and doing some lite sightseeing. While I've got my budgets in place (not backpacker nor uber luxury), I'm a little worried about the Phuket leg, as I'm traveling alone for the first time and I'm not sure if I should have a travel buddy, just to be able to keep me out of trouble. I'm wondering if I should ask the hotel if they could help me with a local female companion who could go sightseeing with me, have dinner and drinks and then end the evening without any funny business. I know most of you will be smirking that that's not what I am actually planning, but believe me, it is.
I dunno, perhaps it's just nerves of being a first time solo traveller, and if any of you will understand my situation, or I'm being a dumbass - plain and simple, but if you can give me genuine advice about what to do, without being snarky or chewing my head off, I'll be grateful.
