Good ECs, grades, but subpar test scores

I’ve been really worried about my SAT greatly worsening my chances at some schools, so I thought I’d try here for some advice.

Demographics: Rising Senior. First Gen African Female (Both parents are immigrants from the same African country. Father is not a citizen, mother is) I live in an urban, low income community with a large wealth gap and attend the largest public school in the area.

Looking to major in Public Policy, Political Science, and/or American Studies

Here’s the worst part: SAT is a 1250

UW GPA: 4.0 W GPA (out of 5): 4.7 You can only get a 5 if you take more than 4 AP classes in my school Class Rank (last I checked at the end of the year): 16/416

AP Seminar: 3 AP Human Geography: 5 AP Research: 3 AP Gov and Politics: 4 Classes for senior year AP Lit AP African American Studies APUSH AP Stats

Awards: Fredrick Douglas and Susan B Anthony Award Outstanding Sophomore Award: Theater Outstanding Junior Award: Chorus State Acting Awards both Sophomore and Junior Year Questbridge College Prep Scholar

ECs: 3 Years of Theater Club, Student Leader as of Junior Year 3 Years of Marching Band in the Colorguard, Captain for my Senior Year 3 Years of Winterguard, Captain for my Senior Year Founder of Black Activism Collective (BAC) at my school which is a community based group that advocates for black students at our predominantly white school. We have an online documentary series where we highlight great black students that is in the works of being played on the news and our group has been invited to collaborate with the local news and several community groups to spread our message of equality and diversity in our city! We also have plans to do charity fundraisers for this upcoming school year, performances of the Black National Anthem (lift every voice and sing) at sports games along with the traditional National Anthem. More interviews with black students and educators, and guest speakers! This is my most passionate extracurricular and the one I’ve spent the most time outside of school pursuing.

Essays: I think my essay is pretty strong. It’s about how my experience with the fear of drowning and almost drowning as a child has followed my life and how drowning has connected as a concept to so many struggles such as my bulimia and my father disappearing from my life with no warning. I haven’t really finished writing anything other than that. I have good LOR from my teachers as well.
