Gender, Sexual Orientation, and Character Creation | Research Survey

Hi everyone! I'm currently looking for participants for a study at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. As a gaymer, I'm very interested in knowing whether LGBTQIA+ people have (on average) different needs and different motivations in their gameplay, and how game developers can ensure that these are met. As a part of that, we want to understand the different motivations that players of role-playing games have when creating their player characters, and how their gender and sexual orientation influences these choices, if at all. The goal is to better understand player preferences and motivations so that we can draw conclusions for ensuring a diverse body of players see their needs met.

We are looking for any participants 18 years or over who play role-playing games, whether digital or physical. The study should take you around 15-20 minutes to complete, depending on the level of detail that you choose to go into in text boxes.

To participate and for further information, please follow this link. If you have any questions, you can leave them in the comments, send them to me in chats/DMs, or through the email that you can find in the link.

Thank you in advance to anyone willing to participate!
