A Very Brief Recap of AEW/Adult Swim Battle for the Booty

Hello all!

I didn't see anyone provide details for the Battle for the Booty event, so I thought I'd give a comprehensive recap to capture the essence of the evening.

The event was held at a packed venue, drawing an eclectic mix of die-hard AEW fans and those who were there primarily for Adult Swim. The atmosphere was vibrant, with an air of excitement and anticipation. From my vantage point, even the non-wrestling fans around me ended up having a fantastic time, particularly enjoying the performances by Orange Cassidy and Willow Nightingale. These two wrestlers managed to captivate and convert many into fans by the end of the night.

One of the standout aspects for me was the true intergender wrestling format. It wasn’t just men vs. men and women vs. women; the matches allowed for dynamic and interactive moments between wrestlers of different genders. This format added a refreshing twist to the usual wrestling dynamics and opened up a variety of creative spots and storylines that kept the audience engaged.

The integration of Adult Swim characters into the wrestling matches was done seamlessly and added a unique layer of enjoyment. The wrestlers treated these characters as their own, which led to some hilarious and memorable interactions. For instance, in the first match, Johnny TV attempted to punch Meatwad, but his arms hilariously "went through" the meat. This clever spot was met with great amusement and set the tone for the rest of the event.

The highlight of the night, and what I consider a match of the year candidate, was undoubtedly the tag team bout featuring Orange Cassidy and Willow Nightingale versus Mr. Frog and Rachel from YOLO. Cassidy and Nightingale emerged victorious by pinfall, but huge kudos go to the wrestlers portraying Rachel and Mr. Frog. They embodied their characters perfectly, played to the crowd with finesse, and delivered a performance that was both entertaining and skillful.

This match was filled with a series of silly yet brilliant spots that kept the crowd in stitches. Some of the most memorable moments included:

A test of strength between Willow and Rachel, where they both attempted to drink one of Rachel’s beers. Willow eventually won this unique contest, leading to Orange taking Rachel’s other beer and toasting with Willow, much to the audience's delight. Mr. Frog hilariously no-sold one of Orange’s dropkicks and then proceeded to chase after Orange, Willow, Rick Knox, Rachel, and even attempted to engage with the fans. This sequence had everyone laughing and added a playful dynamic to the match. The absolute highlight was when Mr. Frog gained the upper hand, and Rachel climbed to the top rope. She asked Mr. Frog to roll Orange closer, then further away, and ultimately fell off the top rope in a drunken stumble. This spot was executed perfectly, playing up the comedic timing and leaving the audience in stitches. Willow then executed a powerful pounce on Mr. Frog, followed by a series of finishers from both her and Orange. They both pinned Mr. Frog, who was protected throughout the match despite the loss, showcasing the skill and creativity of the performers. In the main event, Willow and Orange faced Johnny TV and Taya in a high-energy Tornado Tag match for the Booty Belt. Despite being a short bout, it was well-constructed and thrilling. Willow and Orange emerged victorious, but the celebration was short-lived as the heels (Johnny TV, Taya, Mr. Frog, and Rachel) attacked the babyfaces post-match. This led to a dramatic and heroic save by Swole Rick and Swole Summer from that iconic Rick and Morty episode. The show concluded with a triumphant celebration featuring the four heroes, with Swole Summer carrying Orange off on her shoulders, much to the crowd’s delight.

The event was a blend of wrestling and comedic entertainment, creating an atmosphere that was reminiscent of a small Indie Show with a unique twist. The crowd had an absolute blast, and it was evident that Willow and Orange were thoroughly enjoying themselves. Their enthusiasm was infectious and contributed to the overall enjoyment of the event.

Overall, Battle for the Booty was an incredibly fun and whimsical event. The unique combination of AEW wrestling and Adult Swim characters created a memorable experience that resonated with the audience. I genuinely hope they repeat this event next year, as it was clear that everyone in attendance had a fantastic time.

As a final note, Excalibur served as the MC for the night and humorously called out the Venture Bros for a match at next year's Battle for the Booty, setting the stage for even more fun and excitement in the future. The anticipation for next year's event is already building, and if it's anything like this year, it promises to be another unforgettable night of entertainment.
