Sea People Quest

I’ve looked online and tried to find some info but I am just starting the “Sea People Village Trust” quest and it sounds so annoying. How important is this quest to the game? Feel free to drop spoilers if you mark them.

I just am dreading doing these tasks and want to know if it would be bad to skip the whole thing.
