should i email RTC provider?

so my GP told me they’ve referred me to the waiting list and that my RTC provider would contact me once it’s my turn, but a part of me is anxious after reading posts on this sub about people waiting for a year and finding out they were never on any waiting list.

my question is, should i email the provider and ask if they can confirm im on the list? do you guys know if they can even do that? i also dont want to waste their time as i feel its kinda stupid to do and maybe i should trust my GP.
