Did anyone else feel like their first breakup after transitioning was the hardest?

Discussion

I just went though my first heartbreak post-transition. Emotionally it feels like I am falling apart even though all logical signs pointed towards it being the right decision.

It was one of those bad breakups, where I had to cut all ties.

The number one thing I think is tugging at my heartstring is the validation that person gave me as a trans person.

  1. She didn’t know I was trans when we first met online. I usually disclose this information to avoid any conflict, but I forgot to on this dating app. It wasn’t until our first date when she put things together after I was talking about voice therapy. In her perception, she thought I was a woman.
  2. She called me gorgeous, beautiful, lovely - all the endearing things that carry feminine undertones and have never been said to me before.
  3. She provided me with an emotional outlet that made me feel comfortable sharing and feeling anything in my life.

The lessons I have learned through all of this is to love myself and provide my own validation.
