Question for deferring orientation to a later dates

My nephew just got his orientation letter, he was number 2050 on the last exam. He thought he had time to get his regular license, but I guess they went thru the list number pretty quick for the first three classes. Can he postpone his orientation? And if so, how would he go about doing that? Thanks
