TLDR: **As an adopted person, I believe adoption should focus on creating a genuine family rather than just acquiring a child. Despite the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), which aims to keep Native American children within their communities, I'm skeptical about some adoptions. Many white adopters often ignore racial nuances and adopt for personal validation rather than the child's needs. As a transnational and transracial adoptee from China, I've experienced how problematic it can be when adoptive parents view their children as tokens. International adoption is controversial, and the financial aspect often leads to a sense of entitlement. I advocate for fostering over adoption, emphasizing the need to reunify children with their biological families when possible and to consider adopting older children and sibling groups, who face greater challenges.**

First off it's nice that these people got good homes but people need to understand that that is not the goal of adoption, the goal of adoption is creating a proper family, not to have a kid. First off if you don't know there's actually a piece of legislation known as the "Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) of 1978". This does not completely prevent white people from adopting native Americans but it is under a strict process and you have to get approval from a tribe. Well it is possible that that is which she got, is one of those things where I'm quite skeptical about that. Second, white people who adopt people of color pretty rarely actually care about the nuance of racial issues.

The next problem about the post is the person who apparently is upset with the age limit and someone thinks they are smirky and wants to shove in an adoption center's face how she got pregnant over 40?

Yeah because those are the kinds of people who should be adopting traumatized kids, someone who wants to basically do a dick measuring contest.

The people who recommend other people should adopt, yeah the person getting that recommendation I find are often the worst people who should be adopting.

Like on Reddit I remember there's a story about a sister who is jealous of her fertile sister when she was infertile and wanted to try to condition one of her children to like her more than deep biological child. People in the comments were saying that she should have just adopted.

Yes because let's give the person who is probably going to kidnap a child a child.

Those laws exist for a reason. It doesn't matter if you can biologically give birth over 40. You can also biologically get pregnant and give birth at the age of 13.

I'm adopted, I am a transnational and transracial adoptee from China. My mother was in her older 20s and my dad was in his early 30s.

I am not even of the age My dad was when my mom and dad got married and my dad is already going through signs of dementia.

International adoption is also incredibly controversial.

I was adopted by people who saw me as a token because she said "she always wanted a little Asian doll".

Adoptive parents get so defensive and almost so entitled to children. And it feels like this can happen more than just having a kid biologically because you used your own money to get the child because that's how this works. The moment you spend money on something you feel like you are more entitled to that.

People need to stop encouraging people to adopt and start encouraging them to foster so that eventually the children can be reunited with their actual parents because yes that does happen. Children getting taken away from their parents because the parents are too poor because of the living conditions within the society they live in.

Some people even have the nerve to go on to places like GoFundMe and try to get money that way to adopt someone which is gross.

Please, stop adopting and Foster instead if you can. And also if you do adopt adopt older children and sibling groups who are harder to adopt out because everyone wants the Goo Goo Gaga little baby people. That's why there's a waiting list.

Adoptees are four times more likely to commit suicide than non-adoptees and all of this is why.

This is so gross and I'll tell you why
