NVR scaling and upgrade path
Started with this setup mostly due to sale price on Amazon and the cameras would actually work great in the office environment. Read up a bit more and with the desire to clean up wiring a bit I added the Netgear poe 8pt listed below and a few more cameras thinking I could just go hog wild and fill the 8 PoE ports on both devices but quickly realizing I'd never see more than 8. First problem. Already out grew the NVR.
Started reading more and understand compatibility of NVR and cameras could be an issue with work around being manually adding other brand cameras via ONVIP.
The other cameras purchased by design to fulfill use case requirements.
One REOLINK Duo 3 PoE 16MP UHD Dual-Lens PoE Security Camera with 180° Panoramic View
One REOLINK 4K Floodlight Camera for PoE Security Camera System, IP Outdoor Camera in 180 Degree Ultra-Wide
Two (2) Anpviz 6MP POE Camera, UltraHD IP needed for 2 way comms into room.
I need one more camera outdoor rated that will be mounted about 15 feet above the cement walkway on the side of the building monitoring the front gate about 30 feet away... Suggestions?
What I'm understanding is that I am not using a gig uplink from switch to NVR and should limit number of cameras to 3 per switch?
NVR capacity solution first involved an KVM switch and another REOLINK NVR breaking them down by Indoor (8 cameras) and Outdoor (assuming the DUO use 2ch, total 7 cameras/channels)... this is a therapy office with court ordered supervised visitation so keeping the system simple is critical... Recording of visitations is important but paramount is that the owner can easily check the 32" monitor for activity on all outside cameras before leaving after hours.
Critical because owner handles all of the high conflict custody cases from the local Superior Court and is the only Forensic Psychologist the Court uses to make parenting recommendations. As total advocate for the children and responsible for the safety of them her orders often include removing children from abusive homes and mandating supervised visitation. One can imagine it's not uncommon to experience irritate father's... And mother's too. Usually a sheriff is present for a short time to facilitate her getting to her car but video is very very helpful in my being comfortable because the shrink being discussed is the only Mom that I have and I'm 100 miles away. Clearly remote monitoring is a necessary feature but I'm thinking the KVM idea is a patch.
Replacement of the NVR seems best so do I go with a larger PoE REOLINK or non PoE utilizing a bevy of Netgear or other brand PoE switches to maintain compatibility with most of my cameras?
16 ch Reolink NVR with 16 port POE with gig uplinks to NVR?
Can the switches only support 3 cams? I'm not opposed to replacing any of the devices except the cameras which are all in secure metal boxes and a nightmare to swap out... I do want an NVR solution rather than Blu Iris type because while she's an amazing advocate for the children who need it the most... She's not the most tech savvy lol.
I am asking for complete recommendations/ideas/build outs that you'd recommend with money being third on list of priorities. Programming isn't an issue because if I can't do it then I've got a team of highly trained system engineers and architects who have built out massive video projects including Traffic OPS systems covering thousands of cameras using Marconi mix for Caltrans, video surveillance for huge casinos and video walls and cameras in most of the airports on the West Coast with AirIT. My personal quals are Dual Cisco CCIE Data Center/Security, CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CRISC and some other security certs (completed in 14 months, ask me how lol) so if I apply myself to help Mom it's no problem but first I am deferring to this community of experts for ideas.
Last caveat is I don't require local storage at camera.
Thanks in advance and I hope to return any favors in quest for security certifications!!
