Taxation in India - Not about living a life, but a fight for survival now

First pay a whopping 30% on your hard earned income, and then go out to eat lunch and pay GST on your already taxed income. Literally even for having food on your plate you have to pay the government again. Pay 18% GST for most general goods and services. Planning on buying a car? Pay CGST, SGST, TCS added to the price, and also 10% RTO to have it on the road, claiming that it is for using roads, and still have further toll tax on the same roads that you already paid for. Planning on investing in a home which you’ve worked hard your whole life for? Pay taxes on that, including registration, and if you plan on selling the property, dare you keep the money without paying capital gains.

And some devil’s advocates still love to defend the system, claiming things like “UK tax system is no different”. Bro, have you seen how rich UK is? Have you seen the infrastructure? Have you seen the services? The population is also less than 5% of Indian population, which naturally means income per capita is higher and richer, who can afford it. A broken road in UK is usually fixed in 1-2 days at max, and here there are literally vehicles falling and getting destroyed in potholes and still take months to be repaired or not be repaired at all. How about you follow UK in terms of services as well rather than just taxes?

And then there are the ‘highly respected’ government officers who chomp on these taxes to have large homes, servants, vehicles, etc. and have so much defence around them including by law, that you can hardly criticise them without getting into trouble. No matter right or wrong, dare you say anything against them. Apparently they are ‘working hard’ to make the country grow, by making the population suffer at their fingertips.

I’ve said it multiple times and I say it again - We are not against taxes, we are against the amount of taxes, unfair slab divisions, parasitic taxation of the middle class, etc. Taxation should be proportional to our earning and the services provided.

God bless us middle class.
