Fisk was Dex's version of Stick

This is a thought that randomly occurred to me today when thinking about ways to fix Echo. And it's that in many ways, Fisk's dynamics with Dex and with Maya make the most sense if we see Fisk's use of them as a villainous version of Stick's use of Matt and Elektra.

We see it in very explicit detail with Dex in season 3. Fisk reads Dex's files, and a lot of his background is very reminiscent of Matt's, including losing his parents at an early age, growing up in group homes, and abandonment trauma; and so Fisk tailors his interactions with Dex to make himself look like a parental substitute (much like Stick served to Matt and Elektra). Then there's the whole matter of Fisk having Julie killed because he perceives her as a threat to his iron grip over Dex, which reminds me in many ways of how Stick and Elektra went about driving a wedge to isolate Matt from Karen and Foggy. Dex turning on Fisk when he finds out from Matt the truth about Julie even reminds me to a degree of Elektra turning on Stick and trying to kill him in season 2 (before succeeding in The Defenders). And all these manipulations were because Fisk wanted an uber-loyal foot soldier, much like Stick intended for Matt and Elektra to be for the Chaste.
