Dreamt I was being kidnapped. Had to get a little creative to get out of it.
I'd like to preface this by saying that for many years now I've experienced dreamless sleep. On the few rare moments when I do, it's normally in tiny little fragments that amount to nothing at all. However, as of late, my ability to dream has been slowly creeping back into my life and it all reached a boiling point earlier today when I had one of the most vivid, and frightening, dreams of my life.
It's my day off work and it's very hot outside. I can tell there's a rainstorm on the horizon, so I figure "Hey, perfect napping weather." I lay down for a snooze and not long after I'm "woken up" by the sound of commotion outside my house. I check on it and discover a bunch of strangers having a BBQ in my driveway where my car is normally parked. That should have been my first sign it was a dream, but again I'm not accustomed to dreaming. I ask around, trying to figure out who everyone is and why they're in my driveway. I keep being told that they know the guy I'm renting the house from, but the guy I'm renting from is a family member and I don't recognize anyone there so I'm like "bet".
I pull out my phone to text the guy but before I can shoot off a message three scary looking dudes came out of nowhere and did some old school mafia "let's go for a ride" type shit. They whisk me away in their car and they don't say a word to me afterwards. It's at this time I decided to try out a strategy I saw in a YouTube video. I discreetly pulled out my phone, put the volume way down, call 911 and start drip feeding info to the dispatcher in the form of questions to my captors.
"You three guys just kidnapped me from my home. Where are you taking me?"
"What kind of car is this? A Chrysler 300?"
"Hey, I recognize that place we just drove past. Isn't that so-and-so?"
Not long after this we get pulled over by a cop on a motorcycle (which is something I've never seen in my hometown before, but at this point I'm not even thinking about that). They pull me out of the car first and start questioning the others. I think at one point one of the kidnappers hopped out of the car and tried running on foot, but the cops caught up to him. At this point I'm slowly fading into consciousness, so the details are vague. I think they were taking me to hotel where there was someone else, a woman I think, waiting for us but I don't remember all the details because I awoke soon after.
What was crazy about the whole experience was how strangely vivid it all was. I remember being able to distinctively read words on my phone and street signs, something I don't normally think you should be able to do in dreams. I'm not sure what's causing my ability to dream to come back into my life, but if they're going to be treacherous like this then I'd rather them stay gone. I don't need that kind of stress in my life, especially when I'm just trying to catch an afternoon nap.
