Solaris-III and the world of Wuthering Waves

Solaris-III / Solaris-3 - our Planet, third from the sun.

Huanglong - Country/Continent/Region in Solaris-3.

  • Consists of 6-7 cities - Jinzhou alone as border city in Outer Huanglong, 5-6 cities including Capital in Inner Huanglong.

New Federation - Other region/country outside Huanglong.

Gorges of Spirits (Battle of Gorges of Spirits) - TD Outbreak from Norfall Barrens, led by new Crownless, marks birth of Jinzhou. Where Jue first appears to Jinzhou. Also where Rover wakes up in Solaris-3.

Battle Beneath the Crescent - 3 years ago, Jinzhou fought Threnodian and dangerous Retroact Rain for the first time. Previous General Geshu Lin told his army to stand firm, dove in himself recklessly and disappeared. Jiyan took command of the retreat, and was personally appointed as General by Jue afterwards.

Norfall Barrens - Battlefield against Threnodian.

Port Gunchao - Jinzhou's waterway.

Sentinel - Powerful, Immortal guardians, supporting cities through Magistrates.

Suan'ni - Lingyang's people, beast resonators.

Mt.Firmament - place where first people of Jinzhou lived, and where Jue first appeared.

Jinzhou

Jinzhou - Border City Vanguard in the fight against TDs at Norfall Barrens. Youngest city, constantly in wars with TDs.

Jue - Jinzhou's Sentinel, appointed Jinhsi as Magistrate. Can see into the future, and has powers over time.

Magistrate - Leader of city, appointed by Sentinel.

Pioneer Association - Explorers who share/sell their findings.

Lollo Logistics - Amazon Courier company. "We promise, we deliver"

Patrollers - Police officers. Chixia is one.

Midnight Rangers - Jinzhou's military force, led by Jiyan, focusing efforts on holding line at Norfall Barrens.

City Hall (Jinzhou) - Oldest building, houses Magistrate and attendants, visitors can ask for audience.

Grand Library - holds city's archives of all important information.

Liondance - ritual to rally troops, now commonly a celebration.

Riverside Games - Summer/spring festival, discontinued in wake of TD wars, may re-emerge.

Resonance Nexus/ Nexus Tower - Healing teleportation point. Is a navigator, defense system, information center, and deploys Barrier, which keeps out effects of Retroact Rain.

Resonance Beacon - smaller ones, hold map data, and are connected to Nexus Towers.

Pangu Terminal (Gourd) - Can absorb echoes, and has utility modules like glider, sensor etc. Holds terminal ID (unique individual signature) and Access pass (level of clearance for entry/exit of Jinzhou).

Ministry of Development - Jinzhou's governing structure (?) dictates policy and research

Huaxu Academy (or The Academy) - Collective of Research Branches/Departments. Includes Baizhi's Branch of Remnant Studies, Mortefi's Branch of Tacetite Weaponry, and Xiangli Yao's Branch of Automata Mechanics.

Disruptor - Ancient anti-threnodian weapon, capable of breaking Ovathrax's barrier.

Qichi Village - Implied home of Scar, site to tragedy that wiped out all villagepeople, and remnant energy remains.

Exiles - Homeless/lawless nomads, mix of resonators and non.

Waveworn Phenomena

Waveworn Phenomena - Events where matter, information, energy is converted to frequencies/reverberations.

The Lament - ongoing catastrophic events marked by rising occurences of waveworn phenomena, (like Tacet Discord outbreaks, Threnodians rising, Retroact Rain).

Reverberations - Matter, information, or energy (The waveworn phenomena has converted them into Reverberations)

Remnant - Concentrations of frequencies/reverberations. Can make up Tacetite, a substance that can permanently hold Remnant energy (Resonator weapons are made of Tacetite)

Retroact Rain - Condensed Remnant Energy falling from the Etheric Sea, conjures up illusions of past (called phantoms). Is stronger under Threnodian influence.

Phantoms - illusions of the past in Retroact Rain. Normally just repeat actions from past, but Threnodian influence can make them real and hostile.

Void Plenilune - When Moon is full under Retroact Rain. Was true in Battle of Beneath the Crescent, and in Rover's fight alongside Jiyan.

Echo - Tacet Discords' frequencies after slain, converted into Echoes by Pangu Terminal (gourd).

Streams - Yangyang and Jiyan (and maybe other aero resonators) can read the winds.

Sonoro Spheres - memories of a certain time and space locked together, contains remnant energy.

Simulated Training Grounds - Artificially created based on Sonoro Spheres. (Yhan's waveplate training)

Etheric Sea (?) - concentration of remnant energy resembling an inverted sea in the sky, often over Tacet Fields. Retroact rain falls from this. Interferes with communication signals.

Resonators - Individuals able to resonate with and manipulate certain frequencies. They express their resonance ability/forte through a tacet mark on their body, and their powers derive from their own experiences.

Overclocking - Forte overuse dangerous to resonator, brought on by uncontrolled emotions.

Tacet Discord

Tacet Discord - (spontaneously?) born of Waveworn phenomena, their ever changing amorphous forms feed on frequencies, and mimic their prey.

Tacet Field - Reverberations fill the air, linking our world to an unknown space through a white Resonance Cord (?), which attract Tacet Discords. Etheric Sea overhead. The longer they take to form, the stronger the TDs that emerge.

Tacetite - holds Remnant Energy permanently. Tacetite weapons were once used by non-resonators, but prolonged exposure has health risks.

Threnodian - feeds off collective human negativity, born of Laments. Cause Tacet Discord disasters around the world. Can resurrect Overlord Class TDs, and seem connected to a Calamity Class TD.

Ovathrax - Threnodian of war in Huanglong, feeding on weapon frequencies and soldiers.

Crownless (overlord class) - born of hatred of faller warriors and fear of survivors, resurrected by Ovathrax.

Thundering Mephis - concentration of soldiers' reverberations, will keep returning if place remains a battlefield. Tempest Mephis is a variant that appears inside Jiyan's companion quest, a cluster of purely his cohort/Midnight Ranger's frequencies.

Black Shores

Black Shores - secret organization that monitors laments and advises countries facing disaster. Distinguished by members wearing Blake Bloom flowers, and hailing from an island made of Tacetite Ore. Known members include Aalto, Encore, Camellya.

Tethys - Seems to be their God/guiding figure.

Fractsidus

Fractsidus - extremist group wanting to fuse humans with TDs to make own resonators. Low ranked Artificers and high ranked Overseers aspiring to world destruction/eternal power. Kidnapped Jue, and are accelerating Threnodian awakening.

Court of Savantae (CoS)

Court of Savantae - Officially researched Automata Mechanics, but had bizarre experiments on the side. Disappeared one day. Projects include:

  • Replicating “the divine miracle” with “artificial Retroact rain”
  • "Artifical Controllable Tacet Field”
  • “Replica’ meant to mimic the true form of those “gods”
  • Researching “divine beings” - an ancient civilization that once visited the Whining Aix Mire.

If there are any other terms to include, please share in comments (will credit user beside note)

  • Ideally, please include the context for the information (where in game it occurs/ is described).
  • No speculation will be added to this doc - where quotes/in game content don't suffice to explain the term, you can share an 'understanding': if included, will be marked with (?). Etheric Sea is one such term, only ever referenced in passing.
  • Terms specific to companion quests are not included, unless they broaden understanding of main story. You can find those in their Companion Quest Recaps.
  • Feel free to share 1.1 terms, but there is a dedicated doc incoming for 1.1, will be added there.
