The /r/golf Buy/Sell/Trade Thread

A few weeks ago, I posted the first of what was supposed to be a weekly buy/sell/trade thread. After talking with mod u/phallstrom, we decided it'd be easier for everyone to just have one master buy/sell/trade thread. So, here it is. Eventually, we'll put a link at the top of r/golf so everyone can keep an eye on it, and we'll add a link to the sidebar as well.

The plan right now is to have some kind of automated script delete posts after three months or so just to keep the thread nice and tidy. In the meantime, if you post something and your buy/sell/trade request is successful, try to remember to go back and update the post.

Now for the fine print, most of which I copied from other subreddits that have buy/sell/trade threads. Hope they don't mind.

Guidelines:

  • Titling your posts will make it easier for people to scan the thread. Consider using the following abbreviations: WTB (Want to buy), WTS (Want to sell), WTT (Want to trade). For sale, For trade, Wanted, etc. work too.
  • Be as descriptive as possible: For clubs, include lofts and lies, shaft lengths, unique characteristics, and whether or not the clubs are right- or left-handed.
  • Accurately describe the condition of your item(s).
  • Include any pictures of the item(s) if available. You'll have a better chance of selling your stuff if you have good pictures.
  • Remember to include your asking price and shipping costs.
  • Update your thread when something gets sold or is no longer available.

Suggestions:

  • Use PayPal to make transactions. Using PayPal's gift option is nice because you aren't charged transaction fees, but you'll likely be screwed if your seller is fraudulent. Regular transactions on PayPal incur fees but are generally covered by their purchase protection.
  • Please try to evaluate the fair market value of your items. You can check club values on the PGA Value Guide.
  • Feel free to ask for answers or pictures about an item you are interested in. A good seller will always be willing to answer you in a timely matter.
  • On the other hand, be a good buyer. Respond to the seller's communication, and be truthful about your intentions. Nothing is worse for a seller than answering a bunch of questions about an item, and then the potential buyer dropping off the map.

Remember:

  • Buy/Sell/Trade here at your own risk.
  • Always get complete contact information before anything is shipped.
  • Make sure you aren't dealing with a brand new account or someone who has been reported at r/badkarma.
