Here's an Auction Draft Spreadsheet to use during the draft. Takes ranking tiers and inflation/deflation into account
tldr - I’m sharing my spreadsheet that I use for auction drafts. It’s not a polished product yet but if there’s value to a lot of people I’m happy to update with feedback. The spreadsheet reflects my auction approach of managing my bids based on tiers and trying to predict auction values during the auction by monitoring bids for inflation/deflation trends and analyzing bids for position ranks from drafts of previous years.

Several years ago I was introduced to the world of auction drafts. Even though, at the time, I had been playing fantasy for 15+ years I had never been in an auction draft.
As I mocked none of the available tools gave me the info I was looking for DURING the draft. So over the years I’ve built my own spreadsheet to help me manage the draft and give me the info I need to make decisions.
What info do I think is really important during an auction draft?
(In no particular order)
- Position Tiers
- How many players are left in a tier
- Inflation/Deflation of final bids relative to my cheat sheet.
- How much my league has historically paid for a position
- ex, For the last 4 years the WR6 (during draft season) has gone for between $42 - $45 in my league. So very likely if I want the WR6 from my rankings I’ll have to pay in that range
What info is useful but less important?
- Cheat sheet auction values -> These are just a reference and the actual values themselves become kind of useless during the ebbs and flows of a draft. See “Inflation/Deflation” point above.
How to use the spreadsheet?
(More detailed instructions on the tab “Instructions” in the workbook)
- Make a copy of the spreadsheet
- Update your rankings, tiers, auction values, historical bids, etc. on the tabs in the section “Draft Prep Section”
- Do NOT edit any formulas on the tabs unless you know what you’re doing.
Thanks for reading this far. If you do use the spreadsheet let me know and especially let me know if you have any feedback!
