Playing for the first time. Any pointers and advice that feel like need to know info?

So far I’ve been doing a lot of fishing as it seems to be best for gold. I do crops obviously as well but they seem less worthwhile. Is the fruit bared by seeds you don’t have to replant more efficient overall?

I’m having trouble with food too so I haven’t done much caving. The food to buy seems super expensive and I haven’t found any natural food that consistent enough but I don’t know what to look for.

Any other tip too are appreciated.
