I screamed into the void and it screamed back

Poem

I’m caught in the public’s eye,
Their silent judgment brushes by.
Lurkers linger, watching me fall,
I’m crushed by the weight of it all.

The fear to disappoint is real,
A truth I can no longer conceal.
I’ll falter, and they’ll point with glee,
Laughing at what they see in me.

I long to fade, to disappear,
To silence every whispered sneer.
But still, I crave the blinding light,
To scream, to fight for what feels right.

This pressure ties my heart in knots,
Yet still, I yearn for second thoughts.
To be unseen, yet heard so clear,
To voice my truth without the fear.

Throw your hopes, your dreams, your lies,
Onto this girl you fantasize.
I’ll wear the mask you wish to see,
The perfect dream, the fantasy.

But who am I beneath the veil?
Would you still love me if I fail?
I scream into the void so deep,
Yet even there, my secrets keep.

I hide within the shadows’ hold,
But even there, my story’s told.
My mind, it echoes every scream,
Even here, I cannot dream.

So cast your desire upon my skin,
I’ll wear the shape you keep within.
I am myself, yet yours to be,
The one you want, the one you see.
