Updates on the battle in al-Qusayr (Day 2)

UPDATE

As the Syrian government's assault on al-Qusayr enters its second day I will try to update this post with the latest developments. Please comment with any new information you come across.

Summary of yesterday's events can be found here.

Recap: On 19 May 2013 after months of besieging al-Qusayr, the Syrian army with support from Hezbollah began its long-expected assault to capture the strategic town.

The offensive began late on Saturday night with artillery bombardment followed by airstrikes on Sunday morning. By Sunday afternoon the army began its ground assault and entered the town from its southern peripheries. Following house-to-house fighting, the army claims to have control of more than half the town including the main square.

Reports indicate that 52 people have been killed inside the town, 48 of which are fighters, with over 400 injured. Al Jazeera claims that 13 Hezbollah fighters were also killed.
