Medication AND Disability Help
Hi there! New to this thread and glad to have some fellow PMDD folk to relate to :)
Anyone Else on Medicine?
I (27/f) started taking Lamotrigine (Lamictal) before I was diagnosed. It helps with my mood, anxiety twitching, meltdowns, and overall anger/impulses. I was firstly diagnosed with BPD and they questioned if I had Bipolar Disorder. I had to advocate after tracking my cycle and advocating my symptoms. But, thankfully my male doctor gave me the OK.
I've also self-diagnosed with autism (RADDS and other tests) and C-PTSD. I won't get an official diagnoses due to the bs that goes along with it on paper. This contributes to my meltdowns and panic attacks and inability to communicate my needs.
I've started tracking my cycle and taking appropriate vitamins during those phases - it's super helpful btw! If anyone would like my research on that, let me know. :)
Disability Help
I've finally got a diagnoses for PMDD and have disability assistance - that is ridiculous by the way - I only got 3 hours for "doctors appointments" every month.
I tried to question it but I'm not sure how to word it professionally enough or advocate for longer assistance. My primary care doctor and my therapist filled out the paperwork. We tried to get a full shift (8 hours) a month. I can easily predict my cycle and the pain, bleeding, etc. is significantly better with my IUD. However I get histamine flare ups and it causes hives/urticaria all over the back of my thighs, ocular headaches, and all the symptoms listed in this acritical. I have been taking Benadryl and it helps me sleep but man does it make waking up suck.
I hate taking meds but I've changed my mind since Lamictal and propranolol as well as vitamins that help with the hormonal changes.
TLDR;
Does anyone else take these medications and does it help you and your symptoms? I'm thinking of upping my dose because I had another meltdown/panic attack over something "silly". It has helped lessen those immensely. I'm currently on 200mg.
Any way to advocate for more disability hours? I only get 3 hours a month, not even a whole shift! They said its for "doctors appointments" and my insurance sucks so actually going to the doc would be pointless, waste of time for me and my doc, and a big bill.
Thank you guys <3 Happy cycling!
