Trip to Torres del Paine - Dec 2024

Question

Hey Folks,

I'm headed to TP in December for three days right after Christmas. I'm traveling with a family of four, including two boys (8 and 11), and I'm excited to do some day hikes. We're staying in Puerto Natales since staying in the park was astronomically expensive. I know we're going to spend quite a bit of time driving to/from the park, but we're willing to deal with this. A few questions for experienced folks...

  1. Is renting a car and driving into the park better or hiring a driver?

  2. Are there any must-do hikes reasonable for the kiddos? Guessing they can manage 8-11km for a long hike.

  3. Any tips for food & drinks in Puerto Natales?

I may have more questions down the road, but we just booked our flights and are super excited to visit!
