reappearing dyshidrotic eczema when I moved back home

Hi everyone, I wanted to come here and explain my journey with eczema and hear from some of you who have experienced anything similar to me and better understand what I'm dealing with.

So, a backstory: I've dealt with eczema in phases throughout my whole life. As a child, I would get rashes on the back of my legs and the opposite side of my elbows. I remember I would scratch them so much they would scab, and I would wear long clothing to cover it up. Eventually, that went away, and I didn't experience eczema until my sophomore year in college. I would get hives all over my legs and arms when I was cold or if my skin got wet. This eventually went away after a couple of months, which brings me to my eczema now (which I've been dealing with since early to mid-2021.

It all started when I noticed a rash forming on my right middle finger, which began spreading all over both of my hands. In November 2021, I had to be taken to the ER because my hands got too painful and raw, and I could not do anything. I even called my parents and cried because I was just in too much pain. The ER gave me these steroid pills to take for 5 days, and it was a miracle! -the pain was gone, and my hands cleared up - until the days after I stopped taking the steroids. The eczema returned but not as bad- just affecting my fingers and fingertips.

In 2022, I continued with life, but I was feeling stressed about my eczema. My dermatologist gave me Halobetasol Propionate 0.05% ointment, which helped a bit. Still, my body eventually got immune to it, and I've tried everything from getting rid of certain foods from my diet, different hand creams, ointments, and lotions, buying clean detergents, and trying to de-stress, but it would always come back. Sometimes, it would go away for weeks, and the minute I told people my eczema was gone/ healing - it would come back.

In January of 2023, I moved out of my parent's house and moved to London to pursue my master's. Slowly, I noticed my eczema clearing up, and by March, it was gone. It was like a miracle. I could finally live normally and use my hands with no problem. When I visited home (Hawaii) in May and September, it slowly came back again, but upon returning to London, it would clear up.

This made me question what was the cause of my eczema. Was it the weather, but then London summers would feel the same as Hawaii summers. Was it stress? Maybe, but doing a master's was stressful enough. Or was it the food or drinks? I maintained almost the same diet when I was living in London. Even today, I'm still not sure what is the cause of my eczema.

Today, I've been living back at home since moving from London in December 2023. My eczema comes and goes, but it never disappears. Atm, it's getting almost as bad as it was in 2021, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I don't know what else to do. I feel like living alone away from family was the thing that made my eczema go away last year, and as much as I want to move away, I am currently job hunting (which is a problem in itself because, with my eczema, it's difficult to do anything like type, hold, or even carry anything.).

Sorry if this was a long read, I just wanted to be thorough about my experience. Is there anyone here who struggled/struggles with dyshidrotic eczema have any explanation or any advice on what I should do? I'd really appreciate it!
