Looking for some suggestions on what bike to get. (Any guidance is much appreciated)

Hello everyone, I'm looking doe suggestions as to what motorcycle I should get next. I started street riding a year ago give or take and have ridden every moment I could since then. I started on and still own my 2007 Honda Shadow VLX (600 cruiser) but when I ride with others I find myself trailing after stopping whether at a sign or a light quite frequently. Due to this and my craving for a more aggressive ride I am looking into purchasing a new motorcycle, but don't exactly know what to get. I tend to lean more toward Honda's cbr line due to the familiarity I have with their other machines (not just my shadow), but what do you guys think I should move to?
