Preffering to spend more time on the pad than on the kit

Saw a thread here few days back about kit practice > pad practice so figured might make a thread the other way around. Anyone else here prefer to spend more time on the pad than the kit?

For context, Ive played drums casually and have done gigs as a bassist so I pretty much have an idea of the difference between a pad and drum and know how loud drums can go. Ive also auditioned as a drummer for local bands here and there.

I find it more relaxing just noodling around the pads but once I know I have an actual audition,thats the time I get on the kit. It gives my ears and body a break.
