MC vs Parents letter

so i was sick today and i texted my teacher that i was unwell and he asked “MC or letter?” and it got me wondering does it affect you conduct grade or anything of such because is there really a difference in submitting either one of them? Which got me thinking since i really do not want to have a bad conduct grade
