longtime tivo user with replacement questions

I've owned a tivo since the beginning. My series 4 lifetime is not longer connecting to the wifi and power cycling and trying to reset it it hasn't worked, so I presume I need to replace it. I'm on an aging samsung smart tv, verizon fios cable. I would like mostly cable tv/dvr ability, but would be interested in adding streaming but it doesn't have to be integrated in the tivo. I also have access to a friends plex server but that's optional. I really only need it to the one tv. I honestly haven't kept up at all with tivos offerings - one of the advantages is that it just...works, and it's easy for my mom to operate. Suggestions that emphasize simplicity?
