Mostly petty but worth looking into?

I quit working for a company last week. This week I stopped by the shop to grab My tool box. The owner looked through it with me before I could take it out of the shop. I was forthright with what was there’s and what was mine. He started being petty and claiming things to be theirs because “I’ve worked there long enough for it to be theirs” I’d say everything we didn’t agree upon was less than $100. The thing that peeved me off the most was that he took notes I had written claiming them to be work notes because they were don’t at work. There was no back and forth, if he said it was his it was his.

The part that bugs me is there was no inspection of my toolbox when I started so it was a pure guessing game for them.

Again, I know it’s probably nothing but I just wanted to reach out and see if I could get my things back without it costing a lot of money. Or just a step I could take to make more work for them
