Water leakage.

Last day a pipe broke in the room above my apartment and my room has been flooded due to a crack in the wall. I wasn't there in the room and my roommates cleaned the room aswell and the guy in the room above made me know that he has an insurance as well. Ive been told not to live in the room for the next days/weeks as someone from the insurance company will be coming to check the condition of the walls. 'I am staying with my friend until it get sorted. Am i eligible for any compensation as im not staying in any hotel. Or do I have to present any bills to get it compensated And also should I do anything to get my current rent 0?
