4 days since son showed symptoms of hand, foot and mouth. Feeling better, but is he still contagious?
My son has just turned 2.
Day 1 (Monday) - didn’t want to wake up, was very quiet, tired, cuddly.
Day 2 (Tuesday) - My husband noticed a few big ulcers on his tongue. He was ill all day with a low fever, no appetite, very grumpy and upset and cuddly.
Day 3 (Wednesday) - a couple of small blisters on his toes and red spots on his bum the next morning. No more blisters have appeared since then. He seemed better on Wednesday, but was still in a lot of pain from his ulcers it seemed. Still quite grumpy but more like him self in the evening and ate normally.
Day 4 Today (Thursday) - he seems back to his usual self. He’s eating, drinking and his ulcers on his tongue have shrunk. His bum spots are only small red dots now. The two blisters on his foot haven’t popped but are small.
Anyway, is he likely still contagious? We are due to go on holiday nearby with family tomorrow and I’m a little apprehensive that he’s still contagious.
My husband and I have been so careful with washing our hands and haven’t had any symptoms show ourselves yet. Are we likely in the clear after 4 days? 😬
Thanks!
2 year old, male, 13kg, unsure of height, no health issues.
