My 14 year old childhood dog just died
Hi, this is my first tjme posting in this subreddit.
A day ago, my childhood dog happy was diagnosed with heart disease. But according to my mother, the vet said that she was healthy enough to tolerate it. However as soon as I heard the news, I knew her end was near.
I just didn’t know it’d be 3 hours ago, abruptly. My poor baby just died out of nowhere as my mom was petting her to comfort her. I was upstairs, then all the sudden I heard a scream from my mom. So I ran downstairs and I see my mom and dad surrounding my dog, who had drool/puke(?) right next to her mouth. She was lying down, unresponsive to any of our touch. I quickly called the ER and my parents took her there to confirm her death. And well, it was confirmed — she has indeed passed away.
We still don’t know the exact cause. Before her death, she was struggling to breathe. I think it might have been a heart attack. I’m so devastated that my poor girl just died like that. This is my first time losing my pet, and I miss her so much already. I’m also concerned for my parents’ well being, more-so my mother because she was very, very attached to my dog. They were like two peas in a pod. I’m in so much shock and it hurts me to see other people be impacted by her death.
I miss my baby so much. Please, if you have any tips on how to cope, feel free to send them my way. Thank you.
