abscess infection came back - dentist refused more antibiotics?

question

I am currently waiting for a root-canal specialist appointment and the initial consult is not until the 27th, I noticed this issue at the end of July.

I took about a week course of antibiotics and the infection subsided, but now, the swelling and some pain are back. The issue is that I am going to another city for 5 days to visit my boyfriend.

The abscess was originally diagnosed by a dentist who only works on Saturdays and I leave tonight right after work. I spoke to her last weekend because I was abit concerned and she said she was reluctant to give me any more antibiotics, but now I will be in another province on Saturday and I am really scared.

I am 29 and haven't had a cavity in over a decade, however, I could not afford to get a crown on a root canal from when I was 20 and I guess it chipped and leaked or something and spread to another fairly deep filling beside it, it's very upsetting because these are childhood cavities caused due to neglect, but it is what it is I guess.

The dentist who fixed my chipped filling in the root canal tooth noticed a dark spot under the filling of the one next to it and we were hoping it was just glue or something and not decay, worst-case scenario, it was!

The pain isn't severe but it is really worrying me, I don't want to mess up my jawbone, should I just see another dentist in my boyfriend's city? Is it reasonable to wait and wait and wait to get the root canal done? I don't know how long the process will be after the first assessment on the 27th.

I am back in the swelling, some moderate discomfort, and then draining cycle which is so gross. I don't have any fever and there is no odor and not really much of a taste when it drains... but it's still frightening.

What should I do? I don't want to over-use antibiotics but I know tooth infections are really dangerous and I need to have the infection under control anyway before I get the full treatment.
