Finally stood up to my toxic boss

General Discussion

I’ve been working with this large company for about two years now. The whole reason I came to this workplace because I was promised career progression in my role and the opportunity to learn and develop. When I first started, I did everything I could to be the best of the best. I almost never failed. I was always there on time and I always showed up with a positive attitude. I took on jobs and roles that weren’t even mine to take on but just so I could prove myself. Unfortunately, my boss saw this as an opportunity to keep pushing me in roles and tasks that have nothing to do with my development growth. On top of that I was horrendously bullied by a coworker. ( who has seem to get away with a lot) . I’ve brought this up many times and even raised it with HR but nothing seem to be getting done. ( I even had evidence could you believe it?) from horrible emails to up close and personal encounters with this coworker. Anyway, two years later, the company has gone into care and maintenance and ultimately over 3000 employees have been made redundant. All of the redundant employees have been given the opportunity to redeploy to another branch within the business. I thought this would be my opportunity to finally progress in my career and go towards what I want to do. Everyone else in my company has been given another role within the business so they do not lose their jobs.. long story short my boss told me there is nothing for me and I’m just leaving the business. Two years…. Whole years …. I finally got my boss alone today and just absolutely laid it on him . Respectfully and professionally of course. But then I just walked out. Currently on my way home. Due to the pending HR case about the bullying, I’ve made it clear that no matter what I will be getting my redundancy payment. Best decision I’ve ever done and I feel so good
