Any advice is welcome or I’d love to hear if anyone has experienced something similar.

I noticed a lump under my 9 year old bulldog’s ear a month ago. I took her to the vet and they said maybe it could be an ear infection and they saw she had a fractured back tooth. Vet isn’t concerned with the tooth for now and gave us pain medicine for her.

We did an X Ray along with a deep ear clean. Vet couldn’t find anything on the x ray. So now they recommend we do either an MRI or CT scan to see it better. And if it is cancer to see if it’s spread through the body or not. I wish they could’ve recommended that in the first place. The X Ray cost $700.

The vet recommended that we do a fine needle aspiration to test what it could be. $350. That was two weeks ago and they called end of last week saying we had to re do it because they couldn’t get a good read on it. So I took her back in on Monday and they re did it. Now I have to wait another week or two to see if they even got results this time.

I just feel at a loss of what to do. The weeks are going by and the lump is getting bigger. I know she is an old dog and have come to terms that it could be cancer and we might not be able to really do much. I just wish I could figure it out and have a set plan on what to do. I feel so bad and wish I could make her better.
I don’t know if I should try a different vet or not. It has already cost so much money and doing another scan is going to cost another $1000 then that’s not even including if they’d want to remove it. It was scary enough putting her under anesthesia the first time since she is old. I’ve heard horror stories of people putting dogs under and they pass away because of underlying heart conditions.

Thank you for letting me vent. Sorry it was so long, it’s been consuming me the past month 😭
