3 months into graduate job, have been offered a job at a different company for more money
Hi, I’m a recent university graduate and secured my first graduate job 3 months ago on £24k, however I absolutely despise coming to work each day. I work in a specialised field which requires a high level of training and competency (legally), and so during my 6 months probation I am meant to be trained up to a high competency level. I’ve received absolutely no training and have been doing the same thing since I join, so I’ve somehow already completely stagnated. I accepted this job to improve on my skills, experience and on myself. On top of this, through speaking to colleagues it seems that there’s no sign of any pay rises, and they are still on £24k after 1+ years.
On top of this I drive about 1 hour 20 each way (due to the field there aren’t many jobs about) and can just about get through on this £24k, making it not worth it at all. I have now been offered an identical role in a very similar company 10 minutes down the road to where I’m currently working, so still over an hours drive, however there seems to be sufficient training in place to get me competent and trained up, as well as £28k starting with the aim of £30k within 3-6 months. It would be idiotic of me not to accept this position right? I would be starting in 6 weeks time, so I would only be in this current role for around 5 months and I don’t want it to reflect badly on me or my CV. Any opinions please?:)
