Magic system

I need help with a magic system that I am writing. The way it works is magic is in everybody and everything. Some people have more magic than others. You can focus this magic while forging weapons, items and clothes. In order to access the magic in the object you have to link the magic to your soul. This allows you to unlock and weild the magic in the object. The rapid binding and unbinding of objects can hurt and eventually ravage the soul leaving the body without a soul to inhabit it. I don't know how I feel about this now that I am deeper into the book with more ideas. I feel like it has too many loopholes or plotholes. Thoughts? Questions? Help???
