Disappointed with Deceptive Sales Tactics - Gazley Motors Limited, 38 Kent Terrace Wellington

PHOTOS

I recently purchased a vehicle sight unseen from Gazley Motors in Wellington. Unfortunately, the experience I had with Adam, the car salesman, was incredibly disappointing. Before finalising the purchase, I specifically asked if the car had any dings or scratches that I should be aware of. Adam assured me that the vehicle was in 'mint condition' with no such issues, even writing this in the 'special conditions' on the sale agreement.

However, upon receiving the car, I found noticeable scratches and dings—far from the "mint condition" I was promised. When I raised this with Adam, he brushed it off as "general wear and tear," even though I had asked about these specific issues before purchasing. The situation escalated to the point where I had to get quotes from panel beaters, which estimated the repair at around $1,400.

Instead of taking responsibility, Adam suggested buying the car back and even had his boss call me to try and convince me how "lucky" I was to own such a sought-after vehicle. Eventually, I was directed to a panel beater in Christchurch who took 5 working days to repair the damage.

The entire ordeal could have been avoided if Adam had been honest from the start. I am deeply disappointed with the lack of transparency and the hassle I had to go through. I would not recommend dealing with Adam at Gazley Motors if you're looking for a straightforward and honest car-buying experience.
