Matching in a Region Not Connected To

I would like to match in the Midwest. I am from the east coast and go to med school on the east coast. I went to college in the Midwest but not in the city/area that I’d like to match.

My fiancé lives in the Midwest and I would like to match near him. I applied to several away rotations out there but did not receive any. I ended up doing away rotations on the east coast, but only because it’s just who I heard back from.

I am planning to write about my fiancé on ERAS when I pick geographical preference, but I am worried it’ll be difficult to match in this region due to lack of aways and minimal connections. Any advice appreciated.
