Hi everyone first time posting about my cat ponyo on here. She is a very anxious kitty and we take her to the vet every so often for peeing on things just for them to say everything looks normal in her urine analysis.

Recently though I’ve taken notice to how fast her breathing seems, like 40-50 breaths per minute but I can’t get a clear count because she is either moving or purring and haven’t been able to count while catching her sleeping because she likes to hide and sleep.

I’ve also noticed this clenching kind of twitching she is doing in this video I included and to clarify no she is not dreaming or in REM sleep. In this video her eyes were open just a minute before and I read it takes 20 minutes for cats to go into REM sleep. She does this somewhat often now every time she is just lounging around. She doesn’t meow or even look uncomfortable but I’m just concerned that she may be in pain even though she is not meowing and looks fairly relaxed.

Her behavior is completely normal otherwise. She exercises and gets zoomies at night. She is eating drinking and pooping normal. She is her normal amount of affection and no environmental changes whatsoever. No new pets no food or litter changes. No one moving in or out.

Basically I’m just wondering if this is concerning because I was concerned and took her to the vet who said she has a cold and gingivitis but didn’t do any tests otherwise. I showed the video as well. What tests should I ask for? Any advice would be appreciated. I would also just really appreciate anecdotal or vet/vet tech advice. I don’t want advice from anyone who is just gonna make me freak out with no relevant advice to offer. Thank you!

How concerning in this twitching/clenching my cat has been doing?
