rewatching the series and it reminded me how much of a bad husband Phil is.

Just rewatching the show and I realised how much of a bad husband Phil is to Claire. And no I don't want to hear abt Claire this and Claire that ... I'm not denying that, but Claire gets criticised by the Fandom and even in the show ...but Phil .. Oh fucking Phil gets praised by the Fandom for being a "great husband" ... Fuck that .. If that's what a "great husband" is supposed to be like...

Each episode I watch I get red flags from Phil. I mean he's not the worst ever, but he's the worst character in the show IMO, and I'm frustrated how everytime someone says something relatively negative abt phil the Fandom gets pressed and it gets bombarded with downvotes.

I do agree that Phil is a great father, one of the best Dads ever in TV history , I also love his relationship with his father. But as a husband ? He sucks ass.

Case in point.

1. His creepy attitude with Gloria (it's a given) .. And ppl always say .. "oh it was at the start of the show ... It got better toward the end" .. Ahh ? No it didn't .. In one of the episodes toward the last seasons... He made Gloria pretend to be his wife so that his friend could think he landed a "hot wife" .. Oh what an amazing husband pretending another woman as his wife ! And yes it's one of his less creepy behavior toward Gloria. Ugh yuck.

2. The way he's dismissive of Claire. HE NEVER FUCKING LISTENS I was rewatching season 2 episode 3.. And omg ... Apparently Claire has been telling him to anchor the cabinet to the wall and he forgets .. More like ignores her and then lies to her that he did it .. And then during the earthquake it falls off and almost kills Luke, and what does Phil do ? .. Makes sure Claire is stuck in the bathroom to get time for him to anchor the cabinet. Ohh funny !! Absolutely funny and adorable Phil who so heartwarmingly almost kills his son and lies to his wife abt it ! Oh what would I do to have him in my life !!

This is just one example .. And he's literally like this in every episode

3. How he paints Claire as the bad guy with the kids .. There was a whole episode with this where he finally snaps. But like he doesn't change after that .. He keeps doing that even after that .. He keeps undermining her authority as a parent and refuse to support her parental decisions, while he rarely makes parental decisions. All he wants to be is a "cool dad" .. Like fuck off u man child.

4. His "black woman" fetish... Like ew .. They are not objects and it's not cute ... And extremely icky considering he's married to a white blonde woman while objectifying and fetishising poc women. Disrespectful to both women

5. (this deserves it's own point) That episode in the supermarket where he flirts with a WOMAN IN FRONT OF HIS WIFE and pushes his wife accidentally and refuses to accept it. And and .. When Claire proves him wrong using a cctv footage where he is seen flirting with this random woman and pushing Claire .. What does he do ..CALL HER CRAZY AND OBSESSIVE. !! And her whole family agrees with him. I'm sorry but WTF ! It's funny and a story to be told when Claire falls off .. But Claire is crazy when she proves that her husband pushed her .. Cause NO ONE believed her when she said it ! Ugh I hate that episode. It's frustrating.

I could go on and on .. I am also not a fan of Claire's ... But I dislike phil slightly more than I dislike Claire. The thing is Claire and Jay are shit , they are written to be shit people, they own up to their actions, their get criticised for it by both their family members and the Fandom. But Phil is praised as this angel who is a "perfect husband" and his actions never gets addressed in the Fandom and it's always brushed off as "oh it's a joke" "it's just a comedy series..." "it's just written like that for comedy" "you're taking it too literally .. It's just for jokes" ..but when the writers address Jay's and Claire's and even Mitch's shitty behaviour why Phil's is just brushed off as comedy !?

P.S. Mitch > Hayley > lily > Alex > Gloria > Luke > Jay > Claire > Manny > Cam > Phil Mitch is so underrated ! He's my favourite character from the show.
