Balance transfer question

I recently did a balance transfer about a month ago. The balance transfer went through and my old account has a $0 balance but it does not reflect that way when I check my credit score on credit karma and other apps. It now says I have revolving credit of that high balance on both cards. This has hurt my credit score. I waited for the closing date on my old account to see if they would report my balance as $0 but that’s not the case. My question is does it take a while for credit card companies to report balances after a balance transfer? or did something go wrong?
