Oversuppliers, do you have a seperate freezer just for BM?
Baby girl is 1 month old today and she's drinking about 2 oz every 2-3 hours right now. I am pumping 5-6 oz every 3 hours so I've been freezing quite a bit.
I cleared out a small area of the freezer part of our fridge before giving birth hoping that I would be able to freeze some BM, but I never expected to have oversupply like this!
I'm not sure if the oversupply will change as baby grows and drinks more per feed, but wondering what other oversuppliers are doing for BM freezer storage? I'm thinking about getting a small upright freezer just for BM but I don't know if this is excessive.
I've also read that BM is best used within 6 months and I'm wondering if a lot of the frozen milk will go to waste if I'm still pumping at 6 months and have fresh milk to provide baby? Seems like there is a high chance I may not need to touch the freezer stash ..so milk baths?? Are people just stopping pumping and using their frozen stash + solids by like 6 months?
Also - I can't donate BM due to a medication I'm taking unfortunately. It's safe for my baby since she was exposed to it during pregnancy.
