Help, where to start?

Other

Hi, not sure if this is the right place but I'm getting myself worked up and upset not being able to find the answers I'm looking for.

My partner is unemployed and has been for approximately 12 years. They've suffered with depression on and off, and struggle with social situations. They have been for interviews for Photography related jobs as this is their area of interest but has been disheartened by lack of responses from employers. They have GCSE's and college diplomas but dropped out of uni at the end of their second year.

I have been happy to support them through these years, and my income pays for all bills including rent, energy, food, internet, water etc. As the cost of everything has skyrocketed in the last couple of years, and the fact an opportunity in my job has meant I commute further and increased my travel costs, I would say this winter I will struggle to make ends meet. My partner has started selling some of their photography equipment to help but I don't want them to have to do that. I'd like them to get out in the world, I believe being employed and having disposable income will improve their mental health. The situation is effecting my mental health now and we need help.

Since they haven't been employed for a long time, I don't think it would be a good idea to go straight into full time employment. I'm thinking something along the lines of skills training and a part-time job.

Where do we start? Can we walk into a job centre and ask for help?

TIA
