Question about XL’s hair from your friendly neighborhood blind person

Hi! I’ve been crocheting TGCF dolls (well I’ve made Hua Cheng and am now working on Xie Lian) I’m also blind! Which that while I’ve sketched out the basics for what they should look like, some details aren’t things I can actually make out myself.

What is going on with Xie Lian’s hair? More specifically, the sides of it? It kind of… swooshes out? And then what? Does he have a tiny ponytail under his bun, does it turn into a braid? Does it just go under the bun??? Also how does his bun sit on his head? In some pics it’s up on the too, but in others I think it’s kinda slouching? (For lack of a better word) maybe I just need a detailed description of his hair. I’ve been trying to base both their appearance most off of the donghua, but some novel or manhua influence is fine.

I feel weird just asking the internet this, but my sighted friends have decided they’re tired of my bullshit after sending them copious HC pics asking for fairly minute details about his appearance.
