Hello! I am in a bind for money and I’m wondering if anyone here knows If could get a decent pay out for selling the diamonds in my engagement ring and possibly also my wedding band and then having cheaper stones put in their place.

If the pay out would be worth it I’m also looking for recommendations on what stone to replace it with? Longevity is the most important thing to me.

Also I know my mom and husband wouldn’t agree this idea if they knew about it ( I just don’t really care how expensive the rock on my finger is but they’re very sentimental) so I’m wondering what the likely hood would be that I could do this without them really noticing?

I have a diamond engagement ring and wedding band. The engagement ring has a main Princess cut diamond that is just under a carat and two smaller side stones that are also Princess cut. My wedding band has 15 small diamonds I’m not exactly sure about the quality and cut of those diamonds as they were removed from a very old brooch that had belonged to my great grandmother. I’m less inclined to part with the diamonds on the wedding band as a result but once again, my mortgage has to come first at this point. Thank you in advance for any advice!

Swapping out my diamonds for something cheaper?
