Thoughts on In-Progress Evolutions in fics?
For those unfamiliar, when I refer to In-Progress Evolutions I am speaking of the concept where Pokémon might grow from one evolutionary stage to the next (à la puberty) rather than changing forms instantly. Specifically, I am referring to In-Progress Pokémon by Jae (which I personally love), but I’m sure the concept isn’t exclusive to them or their artwork.
I really like the concept of Pokémon slowly transitioning from one form to the next and I plan to utilize it in my PMD-inspired fanfic at some point. However, I want to ask – am I alone for my fondness for this concept? Would a fic that uses this concept be an instant turn off for you? If so, why?
In a semi-related topic, what about hybrid Pokémon? By that, I am referring to Pokémon with different parent species who have inherited traits from both parents. I’ve seen a bunch of artwork covering this concept, but don’t have any de facto resources to point to at the moment. I already have used this in my fic already – a Simipour that inherited the physique and piggish nose of a Slaking parent.
