Bug with fallout 1s Gizmo quest.

I just started playing fallout and successfully completed the quest with Gizmo where you have to get his confession and bring it to Killian, however i saved somewhere in the middle of it, and after had to reload that save.
Upon loading it, i found that Gizmo is still alive and speaks to me like I have just accepted his quest to kill Killian. The problem is, neither the bug or the tape recorder are in my inventory anymore, and I don't get the option of giving the confession to Killian when speaking to him. I would really like to solve the quest by helping Killian and killing Gizmo. Is there any way to still do this?
