auto-connecting Libra 2 to Calibre when plugged into laptop

I've had my Libra 2 for a year now, and I love it after years of being bound to Amazon's Kindle.

The one thing I miss, though maybe I'm not seeing any setting in Calibre, is when I plug my Libra in to sideload ebooks from Calibre, I have to always open the Libra case and click "connect" before Calibre recognizes the device. My Kindles just automatically connected in their cases, even while asleep.

Is there a setting I'm missing or is this just how things are? Thanks in advance!
