Thinking about selling MacBook Pro M1 to purchase gaming laptop.

I love console gaming, but have been thinking about getting into PC gaming. I don't have room for a desktop, but a gaming laptop would be great. I've been thinking about selling my MacBook for a gaming laptop but I'm not sure if the trade offs are worth it. I use my MacBook for school and it is great, but the game catalogue is laughable compared to Windows. I am wondering if a gaming laptop would last 3-5 years, and be usable for school, while still performing well for gaming. Thank you.
