Are my shoes the problem?

General Discussion

I’ve run on and off most of my life, typically 3-4 miles 4/5 days a week kind of thing. In April, starting from a place of 0 exercise for quite a while, I began my get back in shape journey. For the first two months at least, I ran 2/3 miles at whatever pace my body needed. As I grew stronger I began running much better, going faster and longer. In early July I was up to 4/6 mile runs at a 9ish pace. By august I was feeling very strong, my pace was naturally quickening and I was adding in a long run a week, going to 8.5 or so, and feeling really great. The last two weeks of august I only ran 6/12 days with scaled back mileage due to vacation. When I returned I ramped back up to my normal workouts. About a week ago, I randomly felt what I think is shin splints in one leg. I took an extra day off, iced a lot and got compression sleeves, which I love btw. I then did my long run, 10 (I had a 9.5 run before our trip)miles this time and all of the sudden my TFL and upper glute is in pain, on the same leg/side. I don’t understand what seems to be a sudden change in my bodies response. I had nothing at all before this.

The shoes I am running in now were new end of April. I didn’t really keep track of mileage on them. Could they be dead now and I don’t realize it? I can’t think of what else could be going on. I wear the ASICS GT-2000 series and have pretty much all my life. I tried 2 different shoes, and both times had issues with my legs. I’d love any feedback someone might have, I’m gutted right now. I was running so strongly and now I can barely run.
