UAE Khula Divorce advice
I am a British male and I married a resident of UAE (Ajman) 10 months ago. She had agreed to come to UK to live/settle, so I spent many thousands of pounds on a spouse visa, and she came here in June this year which is the first time we started living our marital life together. This was an arranged marriage and I did not know her well, so I wanted to get to know her a little bit before consummating the marriage (she was quite abrasive and rude, but I still tried to build a connection and attraction and aimed to consumate after 2-3 months).
I was even planning a holiday to do this. She persistently every day said she hated the UK lifestyle and I did everything I could to make her feel comfortable.. taking her out for dinners, sight seeing in the city, going to the seaside, showering her with presents on her birthday, and much more. After 7 weeks in the UK, she left saying her mum was ill and wanted to go visit her. She booked her return flight for 2 weeks time. However once back in Ajman, she cancelled her return flight. Her dad sent really awful scalding messages saying he is applying for a Khula because I and my whole family committed serious fraud by hiding that I apparently have some physical health problem that means I cannot have physical relationship with a women. He said he will make a strong case against us in court.
I was truly shocked. Just because I wanted to wait a few months to consumate as I did know her. Between the time of marriage and her moving to the UK, she would go on overnight trips with her friends and late night concerts (posting stories on social media) and never so much as inform me. That's why I felt I needed to get to know her and build trust before getting physical with her. I have no physical health issue that prevents me from being intimate. Can they really make such claims whilst applying for Khula and what is the court likely to say?
